Investigators say they are getting closer to solving a triple homicide that took place at a residence off Deep Branch Road in 2017.
16-year-old Robert Kennedy III, his mother, 36-year-old Emogene Gardner Bittner and her husband, 24-year-old Christopher Michael Bittner, were all found dead. The Whitley County Grand Jury heard evidence this week in connection with the strangulation killings. Then Sheriff Colan Harrell said that authorities believed the victims knew their attackers, who numbered possibly two or three people, and they believed the perpetrators were from another area. Harrell said police had responded to calls at that residence before. Williamsburg Police began investigating the case in July 2018 at the request of some of the victim’s family. While there have been suspects in the case since the beginning at this point investigators say they have some pretty strong suspects. Police say they anticipate some arrests directly in connection with the killings relatively soon.
