The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says a man is behind bars after he allegedly fired a handgun inside his home near a woman and children. Police arrested 32-year-old Brent Allen Hensley of Gray and charged him with attempted murder, wanton endangerment, assault – domestic violence, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, menacing and criminal mischief. Deputies responded to a call that a woman was hiding inside her closet with her four children. The caller said that a man was intoxicated and firing a handgun inside the home. When deputies arrived, a woman came to the door, but Hensley refused to come out. they gave loud commands for those inside to come to the door. When he finally came out he resisted arrest and kicked a deputy. The woman told police she was sitting on the couch with a baby when Hensley pulled out a pink handgun. She jerked away quickly before Hensley allegedly fired the handgun through the window behind her head. She said Hensley told her if she tried to call police, he would kill whoever showed up. He was allegedly holding a shotgun when deputies approached the front door. Deputies said they saw visible bruising to the woman’s face, forehead, arms and stomach. Hensley was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
