The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says a man is behind bars after eluding police for more than two months. Deputies were called out in October to investigate a complaint that 32-year-old Travis Marcum assaulted a 10-year-old child on Callebs Creek. They issued an arrest warrant on an assault charge but could not find Marcum. Later in November deputies investigated another assault complaint at a home there where Marcum allegedly broke into a home and fired a gun. Marcum again eluded police. Another arrest warrant was filed for assault, burglary and wanton endangerment. Then last week the sheriff’s department got a tip that Marcum was at Brother’s Market in Girdler. Thirty minutes later, authorities arrested him for the earlier charges. During the arrest, they found a small bag of meth and two syringes in his possession. He was then charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Marcum was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
