A woman was arrested after a shoplifting attempt turned violent. Kentucky State Police say troopers responded to a call for help from the Corbin Walmart. An off-duty Corbin Police officer told them he was walking into the store when loss prevention confronted a woman. The woman, Trudy Angel, was trying to get away when the officer identified himself and asked what was going on. Authorities said Angel, who was holding a three-year-old child, did not believe the officer and tried to push him out of her way. The officer said he began struggling with Angel, who pushed and hit him, all while holding the toddler. Someone was able to take the child away before the Corbin officer put Angel on the ground and arrested her. Angel was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, shoplifting, resisting arrest and menacing. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
