Corbin Police are investigating after a man robbed a bank Tuesday afternoon. The robbery happened at the 5th Street branch of Hometown Bank of Corbin around 2:00 p.m. Officers say the man parked across the road, went into the bank with a pistol and demanded money. He pointed the gun at a teller and then drove away with an undisclosed amount of money. After questioning people in the area, the robber was identified as Timothy Sample. Police say people recognized Sample because he worked at a business in the area. Sample’s co-worker told authorities that Sample borrowed their car the day of the robbery and never returned. The missing car matches the description of the robber’s getaway vehicle, which police said is a gray 2013 Chrysler 200. The license plate tag is 559-WST. No one was injured during the robbery, and police do not suspect anyone else was involved. They are still investigating, and are currently searching for Sample. Sample is described as about 6′ tall and he has a gray goatee. Anyone with information on Sample’s whereabouts is asked to call the Corbin Police Department at (606) 528-1122.
