The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a man is facing numerous charges after leading police on a high-speed chase and endangering the lives of several people, including at least one deputy. It happened on KY 312 near London. Deputies were investigating a complaint on Wise Owl Road when an SUV flew past them, nearly hitting a police car. Officers chased after the SUV at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour at times for nearly 6 miles before the driver finally stopped in the parking lot of a business. Several vehicles were forced off the road during the chase. The driver, 26-year-old Dylan Southerland of Upper Indian Camp Road in London, was arrested after a brief struggle. He was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit, menacing, reckless driving and operating on a suspended or revoked license. Southerland was also charged on a parole violation warrant and two bench warrants in unrelated cases. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
