The Kentucky State Police annual “Cram the Cruiser” holiday food drive begins this week. Troopers say they will be accepting donations, beginning Wednesday. The food drive is designed to provide non-perishable food items for families in need throughout Kentucky. Suggested donations include non-expired canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices. You can drop off your items at Kentucky State Police Posts and regional offices. They will also have special events at Kroger stores throughout Kentucky on December 1. Last year, 339,656 pounds of food were donated from individuals, businesses, school groups, social clubs, scout troops and civic organizations throughout the state. Troopers say their spirit of giving had a significant impact and helped take hunger out of the holidays for many families. The campaign will last until December 10.
