The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out to a reported robbery at Interstate Auction near Corbin. Employees called 911 saying a man was reportedly going in and taking items from store and putting them in the business van and then left the scene. Employees then followed the vehicle to a home off North Florence Street where the suspect unloaded the items he took from the store onto the front porch. Corbin City Police officers that were nearby detained the suspect, later identified as 39 year old Michael Smith of Corbin, until deputies arrived. Smith was arrested and charged with auto theft and burglary. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
