Voters came out to the polls Tuesday to make their voices heard. In Laurel County most races were decided in the May primaries, except the Magistrate District 3 race. Bobby Overbay, who lost in the republican primary to Rufus Fields, changed his registration to Independent to come back and defeat Fields in the general election with 51% of the vote, according to unofficial totals. In the London city races, Troy Rudder retained his seat as Mayor with 56% of the vote. In the London City Council race, in order of the top vote getters, Noah White, Judd Weaver, Bobby Joe Parman, Steve Berry, Danny Phelps and Daniel Carmack were winners. For Laurel County School Board, District 1, Philip Bundy 52% of the vote, followed by Tony Krahenbuhl and Patrick Murphy. In District 3 John Begley was the top vote getter with 54% of the vote, followed by Joey Taylor. In the East Bernstadt School Board race, Gene Allen won with 32% of the vote, followed by Jim Sutton and Tom Caudel. In other major races around the region, Suzie Razmus won the Corbin Mayoral race. Somerset has a new Mayor as Alan Keck upended Eddie Girdler. Stephen Kelly, Jr. won for Pulaski County Judge Executive. In Manchester, James Garrison won for Mayor. David Thompson won for Barbourville Mayor. Also Mt. Vernon voted in favor of alcohol sales.
