Families waited along Main Street to welcome home the South Laurel High School marching band from Kroger Field after the band won the 4A State Championship. The teens say they gave the championship performance their all. But parents say without the many hours of practice, none of it would be possible. The band is thankful Director Mark Sizemore helped them achieve the win, something he says made the best birthday present for him. Members say they owe their success to not only their own determination but also the many other people who helped push them this far. South Laurel was not the only Eastern Kentucky School to take home a prize this weekend. Estill County High School placed second in the 2A division.
