Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies arrested a man after they say he led them on a high speed car chase. Police say 26-year-old Freddie Scalf Jr. pulled out onto Aurthur Ridge road and began speeding. Deputies say he was driving around 75 miles per hour. When deputies tried to pull him over, they say he sped up and tried to lose them by turning onto several different roads. Officers say Scalf eventually got his truck stuck in a ditch. Deputies say Scalf ignored them when they told him to get out of his truck and had to physically remove him. During his arrest police found a glass pipe with white residue in it. They also say he was under the influence. Besides being wanted on a parole violation warrant, deputies charged him with reckless driving, DUI, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and others. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
