Kentucky State Police say a trooper was able to stop a man before he drove away with a toddler while intoxicated. A worker at Mike’s Quick Stop in Manchester called 911 reporting an intoxicated man was inside the store with a small child. A trooper went to the store and found Wesley P. Williams in the parking lot heading for his car. When the trooper approached him, Williams said he was “the Lord” and he was there to help. The trooper said Williams’ eyes were very dilated and when he closed his eyes he had eye tremors. Williams also apparently would not stop pacing back and forth. Williams told police he had taken meth, marijuana and other drugs. Williams was arrested and lodged in the Clay County Detention Center and the toddler was taken to other family members.
