The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was proud to announce one of its deputies started as East Bernstadt Independent’s first school resource officer this week. Deputy Brad Mink began his SRO duties after school board members voted unanimously to contract with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office to provide an SRO. He is a five-year veteran of the sheriff’s office and will be at the school every day classes are in session. Mink will also go to ballgames, dances and other school functions. The new SRO is not the only security feature the school has. East Bernstadt Independent has trained staff members and metal detectors at all entranceways.
