WKYT-TV is reporting a hazardous materials team decontaminated a Laurel County deputy and a K-9 after the deputy discovered fentanyl in the backseat of his cruiser. The deputy says he arrested two suspects and took them to jail. As he was heading to another call, he noticed the powerful opiate in his vehicle. Because he had a dog with him, the deputy pulled over along Golden Eagle Drive and had the crew decontaminate everyone who came in contact with him since the arrest. The deputy is not expected to have any ill effects from the fentanyl.
