The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out on a burglary, assault and kidnapping complaint at a home on HWY 459 near Walker Park. During the investigation, officers found that 29 year old Rickie Ledford had broken through a man’s door armed with a handgun. During a physical altercation between the two, Ledford struck his ex-girlfriend in the head with the handgun. Ledford then forced both of them to take him to his mother’s house on School Street in Barbourville. The male victim was later released by Ledford which allowed him to call 911. Deputies along with Barbourville City Police went to the home and found Ledford hiding inside a closet with the handgun. During his arrest police found a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a syringe. He was charged with several offenses and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. The injured woman was also found there and transported to the ARH by ambulance.
