A Corbin man was sentenced this week to 360 months in federal prison. A judge sentenced 55 year old William Timothy Sutton on four counts of interstate murder-for-hire and one count of possession of firearms by a convicted felon. A federal jury found Sutton guilty in January 2018. Officials say in March of 2017, while in the Whitley County Detention Center, Sutton offered to pay another inmate $40,000 to murder four people. Sutton also mailed a letter to a relative, asking the relative to give one of Sutton’s own guns to the would-be hitman. Police were able to stop Sutton’s plan before anything happened. The intended victims were the Whitley County Attorney, the Whitley/McCreary County Commonwealth’s Attorney and two ex-girlfriends.
