The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested a potential suspect in the case of an armed robbery. The robbery happened Sunday around 7:30 in the evening at the Slate Branch Road Quick Mart. Investigators say a white man wearing a mask and brandishing a gun demanded cash and cigarettes. They say the robber made off with several packs of cigarettes and cash in a 2009 Honda Civic. Police later determined the vehicle was registered to 36 year old David Strong of Waynesburg. Later, an off-duty police officer reported seeing a Honda Civic matching the description near Slate Branch Road. Several deputies responded to the area, where they found Strong in the vehicle. During the investigation Strong fled on foot with a handgun. He then tried to take another vehicle, but the owner and a deputy chased Strong. When the vehicle owner tackled Strong, he fired at him. Police say Strong then fired a second shot in the direction of the deputy after he was taken to the ground. Nobody was injured. Strong was arrested and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
