Laurel County Sheriff John Root says a man is behind bars after he ran away and tried to take an officer’s gun. Deputies say they were at a home trying to arrest 40-year-old Jonathon Grosswiler on a warrant. Police were also looking for Grosswiler’s girlfriend. When Grosswiler heard dispatch tell deputies about the warrant over the radio, police say Grosswiler ran out the door. Grosswiler struggled with an officer outside of the home and grabbed at his gun. Police say Grosswiler injured the deputy before they were able to restrain him. Grosswiler is charged with resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police, disorderly conduct, assault, disarming a peace officer, menacing, hindering apprehension and alcohol intoxication. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
