Laurel County Sheriff John Root says a man was arrested after deputies found him screaming in a parking lot and causing a disturbance. Officers responded to a complaint that 23 year old Robert T. Smith was disturbing people at a building off Robert E. Cox Road south of London. Smith was allegedly screaming in the parking lot when deputies arrived. Officials say Smith allegedly threw several items into the parking lot from a second story balcony. He had also caused a disturbance with a trooper earlier at an unrelated traffic stop. Smith told officials he had “took all the meth”. Deputies say he was under the influence. Police took Smith into custody after a brief scuffle. He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
