The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says deputies accompanied social services to remove a child from a home on Maple Grove Road. Laurel Circuit Family Court had ordered the removal. As officers arrived a woman, 41 year old Paula Joy Johnson, fell out of the front door of the house. During the investigation deputies found a glass pipe on her which she allegedly used to smoke meth while the child was in the house with her. Johnson was arrested and charged with public intoxication – controlled substances, drug possession and wanton endangerment. She also had a warrant for direct contempt regarding an abused or neglected child and a warrant for failure to appear in court on traffic charges. Johnson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
