The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says deputies went to Buckeye Branch to serve a warrant on 32 year old Adam Messer. Messer was indicted for burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing and persistent felony offender. As officers arrived Messer fled on foot into the surrounding woods. After a lengthy foot pursuit, Messer was caught and taken into custody. A sawed off shotgun was also found at the residence. In addition to the indictment charges, Messer was charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on eight traffic charges. Messer was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
