The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested an intoxicated man after he led them on a chase through the woods and then tried to fight them off with a rifle Sunday night. Officers went to a house on KY 229 near the Laurel County line after hearing about a possible assault. A man, later identified as 24 year old Brandon Jones, burst out the back door and ran into the woods. After searching the woods, deputies found Jones lying on the ground wearing a full-length camouflage trench coat. He was also carrying a loaded .22 caliber rifle. A deputy wrestled the rifle out of Jone’s hands and tossed it away. The deputy then tazed him, but it didn’t stop him. Jones kept fighting until another deputy came up and used pepper spray, which brought him down. Jones had several prescription drugs with him at the time, including Narco and Neurotonin. Jones was arrested for evading police, resisting arrest, public intoxication, drug possession and several other charges. He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
