Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that a Somerset doctor will remain in jail after committing Medicaid fraud. 58 year old Ezekiel Akande was sentenced April 2017 to five years in prison for thousands of dollars in Medicaid fraud, which is a felony. Akande received payment from Medicaid for tobacco counseling that never took place. The prosecution alleged that Akande billed Medicaid for counseling of patients that were nonsmokers or smokers who did not want to quit. Akande will not be eligible for parole until January 2019.
