Business leaders and economic developers talked about bringing companies to Eastern Kentucky during the Economic Development Community Forum in Hazard last week. Community members were encouraged to ask questions. Economic developers said companies look at several things when considering a location, like if a location has the land to build on, a ready workforce, and what the cost will be for the company. Officials say when an industry comes to visit no one knows where one county starts and another county stops. If an industry has 200, 400 or 1,000 employees they’re going to come from the region. During the forum many speakers said Eastern Kentucky is a great place for businesses because there is already a large number of people ready to work.
