Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet assisted by Detective Sgt Tommy Johnston are conducting an investigation into an apparent home invasion which occurred on Gibbs Lane, 8 miles west of London on (2-10-2012) at approx 7:01 P.M. Apparently, a lone male subject wearing a full face mask reportedly armed with a shotgun attempted a home invasion on a man and his wife.(they are identified as: Donald and Brenda Roark of Laurel Lake North) The suspect knocked on the door of the residence, and when the victims opened the door , he pointed a weapon at them.. The female victim struggled with the suspect in the doorway. The male victim was able to retrieve a shotgun, pointing it at the suspect and was able to chase the suspect away, and notify Laurel Dispatch who notified the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Laurel Sheriff’s Sgt Greg Poynter, Deputy Robbie Grimes, and Deputy Steve Hoskins responded to the emergency call for help.
