The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a woman is in custody after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle. Police say 35 year old Abbie Kent of Tennessee was driving a car that was reported stolen in Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Patrol attempted to stop Kent in Tennessee, however, she continued to travel into Kentucky and into Laurel County on I-75 and US 25E. She then drove onto Boone Avenue where she eventually got stuck on some railroad tracks. Kent jumped out of the vehicle and jumped into a river. Deputies went into the river and took Kent into custody. It was determined that Kent was under the influence she told police that she had been doing heroin. Kent was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center where she faces multiple charges.
