More than 200,000 arrows will whistle through the trees toward lifelike game targets at the Laurel County Fairgrounds when the ASA National 3-D Archery Tournament returns to London the weekend after Memorial Day. The T.R.U. Ball/Axel Kentucky Pro-Am will begin on Thursday, May 31 and continue through Sunday, June 3 at the fairgrounds. The archery tournament is one of London’s and Southeast Kentucky’s largest tourism events, bringing in about 2,000 archers and their families from 35-40 states. It’s also recognized as the largest 3-D archery tournament in the world. The event fills up hotels and restaurants from Jellico to Berea and infuses a lot of tourist dollars into local businesses. Organizers say this year’s tournament promises to be one of the best ever, access wise, because of vast improvements to the fairgrounds property completed in the last few months.
