A Laurel County school system now has metal detectors installed. East Bernstadt has installed walk-through metal detectors at all the school’s entrances. The upright metal detectors will scan approximately 500 students as they enter each day. Visitors will also be scanned. Laurel County Sheriff John Root and deputies were present to help with the process. The metal detectors were paid for using donations. The school system also has wands to further investigate if the walk-through detector goes off.
