The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested a man after he allegedly intentionally hit his wife’s car. Investigators say Derek L. McHargue rammed his wife’s car with his causing extensive damage. His wife and a 17 year old girl were in the car at the time and both were injured. Derek L. McHargue ran away from the scene before deputies arrived. The woman and teen were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. McHargue’s wife had called the 911 Dispatch Center before being hit claiming that a car driven by her husband was following her and was trying to run her off the road. Deputies say Derek McHargue threatened to kill the women. A warrant was issued for McHargue for assault, wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. The next day McHargue called the Sheriff’s office twice threatening to kill deputies. Corbin City Police later ended up arresting McHargue. More than 60 counts of terroristic threatening was added to his list of charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
