Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Kenneth W. Lipscomb, the man wanted in connection to a homicide investigation, has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies say they received a call from someone who had seen Lipscomb. The person said he was driving his white Ford F-150 with a camper shell on Flatwoods Road toward Laurel Lake. When police arrived Lipscomb took off leading them on a pursuit. Lipscomb finally left the road into a field where he stopped. As officers walked up to the truck they say Lipscomb shot himself in the chest with a 45 caliber handgun. Lipscomb was then transported to Baptist Health hospital in Corbin where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators say the person found dead at Lipscomb’s Hunters Trace home also died from a single gunshot wound from a 45 caliber gun. At last report police were still waiting for dental records to be compared to the person who was found dead before they release the identity.
