The Knox County Public Library has announced their new, free program as part of 1,000 Books Foundation, helping children read 1,000 books before starting kindergarten. Parents are encouraged to begin reading to their children as newborns, continuing to read one book a night in order to reach the goal. Librarians say it is easier than it sounds. One book a night leads to 365 a year and before you know it, you have one hit 1,000 before three years is up. Parents can call in or register at the front desk where they will provide a reading log. There is also an app available to track progress as well.
