The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office says two grandparents have been arrested after children were found in a home where a fight was taking place. Deputies responded to a 911 call from the children at a home on KY 779 in the Rockholds community. When officers arrived they heard screaming and yelling and found two adults who had visible injuries and also smelled of alcohol. Also inside the house was two children under the age of 15 who told deputies the adults were their grandparents. While investigating the home, police found a knife and a piece of wood with nails exposed which read “Pain/may cause death.” Sheriff Colan Harrell says he applauds the grandchildren for making such a brave decision to call the police. Harrell says 55 year old Scott Powers and 51 year old Teresa Bunch were charged with fourth-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a minor. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. The children were handed over to social services.
