The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called out to a home on Moore Hill Road where a man was reportedly trying to kick a door in. Officers learned the man, later identified as 51 year old Gary Patterson, had left the scene in a white KIA. Deputies met him on the road and attempted to pull Patterson over. Patterson kept on going leading police on a chase into Barbourville where Barbourville police joined in. The pursuit ended up going through a cornfield where a city cruiser was struck and onto a mining road where Patterson crashed through a gate and finally got stuck in the mud. Patterson got out and ran on foot but was caught. Patterson resisted arrest and fought with officers even after being tased. Patterson was taken into custody and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
