Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell has released more information on a crash involving a bicycle. A 14-year-old boy on a bicycle was hit by a car driven by a woman who police say should not have been behind the wheel. Authorities say the crash happened around 4 p.m. Friday in the Rockholds community. Deputies say the driver, 29 year old Latosha Cureton, was driving on a suspended license after being arrested for DUI. The teen, Cody Havens, has numerous injuries, including a broken pelvis, three broken bones in his leg and a lacerated spleen. Sheriff Harrell says the punishment for people driving on suspended licenses is not severe enough to prevent incidents like this from happening. Cureton was not charged with any DUI offenses Friday, but police say she has several previous offenses. She was released from the Whitley County Detention Center following her arrest. Havens is currently recovering at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville.
