The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office says one man is behind bars and another is recovering at UK Hospital after a road rage shooting. Deputies say 77 year old John Mullins is in the Whitley County Detention Center facing an assault charge. Investigators say prior to the shooting and at another location, the victim and Mullins exchanged words. Mullins was reportedly upset by the victim’s partial blockage of the roadway. After parting ways, the two came into contact again at the intersection of highways 25 and 204 where they had another verbal confrontation. Mullins then reportedly pointed a .38 caliber revolver at the victim and shot him at close range. The bullet went through the victim’s left ear. Deputies say the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.
