WYMT-TV is reporting Knox County school officials are launching a new app to help keep students safe. The “S.T.O.P” (Safety Tipline, Online Prevention) app allows parents, students, and others in the community to report threats through the app. You can remain anonymous or give your name. The app can be used to report bullying, threats or self-harm. Frank Shelton with Knox County Public Schools said they are not using it for anything that may require urgent attention. For emergencies folks still need to call 911. You can also send screenshots through the app. Once something is reported, school staff decides if police, counselors or school officers need to get involved.
