WYMT-TV is reporting a man in Knox County withdrew from a plea deal this week. A judge set a trial date on May 21 for Elijah Messer. He is the last remaining defendant in a 2014 murder case. Police say Messer and four others conspired to kill Donald Mills. A jury found Patrick Baker guilty on charges of reckless homicide, robbery, tampering with physical evidence and impersonating an officer during a trial in November. Two people who pleaded guilty in the case, Angela Mills and Christopher Wagner, are already serving time. Another defendant died. It is unclear what type of plea deal prosecutors offered Messer.
