The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says deputies noticed a vehicle swerving over the center line on Ky 3439 in Barbourville. Officers pulled the vehicle over and noticed the driver, later identified as 39 year old Kevin Carnes of Barbourville, attempting to hide something under the seat. A search turned up a plastic bag containing a spoon with drug residue. Carnes was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license-3rd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and no Insurance. He was also wanted on a Knox County warrant for failure to pay fines on an earlier drug charge. The vehicle was also reported stolen, so Carnes was also charged with theft. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
