The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office says a man flagged down deputies on Highway 1804. The man said he had been behind a driver in a blue Ford SUV that was driving erratically and he suspected the driver may be under the influence. Officers found the vehicle in a parking lot near the Kentucky-Tennessee state line. During the investigation the driver, 34 year old Christina Siler of Newcomb, TN. was determined to be under the influence. While police were arresting Siler, another woman, later identified as 30 year old Jacklyn Jones, left a toddler in a shopping cart and approached officers. Police say Jones was obviously under the influence and was also arrested. Social services was contacted and the child was released into the custody of a family member. Siler was charged with DUI and Jones was charged with public intoxication and endangering the welfare of a minor. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
