WYMT-TV is reporting a pair of former Clay County officials will appear back in court February 5. On that day we may learn when a judge will set Joe Asher and Road Foreman Bufford Jarvis’ trial date. Sheriff’s deputies arrested the pair August 5th, 2016 on warrants. A grand jury indicted the pair a day earlier on charges of abuse of public trust, bribery and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Investigators claim Asher and Jarvis installed tile owned by the county on private property and put a concrete wall up at another private property. They allegedly were paid thousands of dollars for the work and pocketed the money.
